Despite what Pat Robertson might think, I don't see the earthquake in Haiti as God's way of punishing people, or as a way of trying to force repentance on a population. Just like with the plight of the homeless in Tallahassee during a cold snap, if God is trying to "teach" anyone "a lesson", it's not for the victims of extreme poverty. It's for us.
How we respond to the needs of those with nothing is a measure of how we are living up to the commandment to love one another as God loves us. It forces us to see those who are constantly with us, but are easy to forget. Do we open our wallets or closets? Do we volunteer? Do we pray?
Perhaps it's all of the above. But to do nothing to help those without means who are the victims of nature is not an option, and placing blame is ridiculous.
O God, make haste to help those in need here and in Haiti, comfort those who wait for word on their families and friends, and embrace those who have lost their lives. Watch over all of us at this time of need. Amen.

I wish not acquiesce in on it. I over polite post. Expressly the designation attracted me to read the unscathed story.
Anonymous, I will leave your comment up, but next time at least sign a name... even if it's a pseudonym. Was I too polite? Perhaps. The Pat Robertson's of the world are evil... and make a habit of pushing people away from God by opening their mouths and emitting something that resembles speech.
I am sending a donation through the ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development). Just a small amount because that is what is needed to get water, medical supplies and food. We don't need remarks from Pat Robertson or Rush Limbaugh.
